April 1st meeting

The first meeting of the season had 22 members show up and take an active part in the clubs future. The new roof was approved, talk of the garage door to be replaced and the back door also up-graded. The interior concrete floor painted. We signed up two new families as members which brings our total membership to 70, with members of all ages from 8 years to 83 years of age. I am excited about the new season and the chance to shoot with some good archers. We had some of the new menu products for dinner and all was well recieved. What was your view of the meeting, what do you want offered, what is going to make archers join?

Not a good idea to stop the Senior Games

The NY Senior Games are back. This year because of the budget crunch, The Politicians were going to not allow the senior games to be held. What a surprise that the people who have paid the tax burden of the State would be the first to be asked to make a sacrifice. I can see all people giving back a little but how about the politicians that claim to work for the people to start by doing a little sacrificing.

The April Meeting

The first club meeting is April 1st. What should be the main topics? Should we have a better menu at our shoots. Should we order more club pins? The club logo shirts should be ordered. Work parties should be set and general work at the club should be given priorities as to need and cost. Discussed the pavilion ( is it worth saving) What we need to do to get more members.

The NY State Financial Deficit is Affecting Our Sport

Its been a fast month and before we know it the Spring and Summer shooting season will be here. The WNYFAB indoor shoots are into the last month of shooting. This month will have two shoots at Creekwood Archery. One shoot will be hosted by The Batavia Archers and one by Creekwood. These are in the middle of the month and the schedule is on the web in the NYFAB web page. March has a local tournament and the State Tournament being held at Creekwood. The 40th National NAA tournament has been cancelled in Rochester but will still be held in Andover Mass. The Empire Games will have a pay as you play policy with cost per event at around $280 . The Senior games maybe in trouble too, but there is no word yet about them. Our States financial troubles will be hard on everyone. The only saving part for archers in our area will be local clubs to fill the gap for shooting opportunities. We will report any and all shoots that come to our attention. RBH has a light schedule for the month of September and with help from the membership we will have more shoots set up for the Fall season. We need input from the membership on what you want and need to have a season that would interest more people to come and join our club. Some have recommended an expanded menu at the snack bar, and more choices in beverages. These are good ideas and the officers will discuss these and other ways to increase revenue at the club meetings.

A Letter from the Club President Dave Reiss

Helloooo!!!!!! Archers. I have been asked by our Newsletter Editor to give you a few words of wisdom from your President. Well words I can give but wisdom, well that may be a stretch. Welcome to 2009 and a new looking club with better targets and club house updates. We have a full set of officers and people who have many good ideas. Your ideas are also welcome and I encourage you to make this club even better. Just contact an officer or attend the meetings and let your voice be heard and with your help we can make this the best in the area or even the state. We will soon have our schedule set for the out door season. We have added Saturday shoots this year on a trial basis. We hope to see you all soon. Bring a friend and introduce them to our fine sport and help build our club from within. See you on the shooting line.
